An artist book collaboration with Nicole Geary
Back in May 2014 I took a fun weekend trip to Austin to visit a friend before she started grad school. During that weekend, fellow artist and friend, Nicole Geary, drove up from San Antonio to hang out and catch up. As we talked, we devised a plan to work on a collaboration together.
A few months and a cross-country move later, Nicole and I started exchanging drawings for what we decided will be a collaborative artist book. Two artists. Two states. One book. We've worked on everything digitally and via Skype with one physical exchange of work thrown in.
For the holidays, my husband, Mike, and I traveled to Texas to visit my family and we were able to make a short trip to San Antonio so Nicole and I could work on our project in person. We spent one full day working on drawings, discussing the content of the book, and talking about life. It was a fun, fulfilling day that recharged my creative energy.
I'll wait to divulge more later as things are solidified... we are continuing work on the book remotely and pursuing some options for finishing it together in the same place. For a few peeks of our day together, check out my Instagram or Nicole's.
Happy New Year!
