2018 Update for Cat Snapp Studio!

It’s been a while (ahem, just over two years) since I last wrote a blog post. And, wow, has much changed!

I’m still here, still creating stationery and journals. That hasn’t changed!

What has:

  • At the end of 2017, my husband, Mike, and I bought a house. The house is very small, but it has a three-car garage out back that is now my studio! No more hiding from the property managers in an apartment complex garage! We’ve been renovating the new garage and just finished installing the siding. We’re moving on to insulation and interior walls next. It’s been two very cold winters out there, so I’m excited to have a much warmer work space next winter.

  • We adopted a rescue dog, Willy. He’s a rambunctious chihuahua-terrier mix. He was five months old when we got him, so it was a few solid months of potty training, crate training, obedience training, pulling my hair out and eventually all of us settling in together. Now we’re seeing his huge, loving, spunky personality emerge. He is quite the ham but a terrible studio assistant!

  • I spent most of 2016-17 working at a gallery and shop with two locations, and I spent my time at both. It started as a part-time job, so I could still focus on Cat Snapp Studio, but it quickly grew into a larger position. I was growing so much as a creative professional and believed in the mission of the business, but I eventually had to make a hard choice and leave the job to regain the time I needed for my studio.

  • Since then, I opened my Etsy shop and was accepted into Etsy Wholesale!

  • I was also a maker at a bunch of markets last year, including Everett Makers Market and Urban Craft Uprising’s First Thursdays, Westlake Market and Winter Market at Amazon!

Right now

  • I’m creating new journals and cards — I’m dying for the warmer months so I can spend more time in the studio printing and binding.
  • I’m working on the studio renovation with Mike.
  • And I’m applying to lots of markets, so be on the lookout for where I’ll be selling in a couple months!

I’m so excited about the future of Cat Snapp Studio and can’t wait to share what’s new with you! I was recently featured on the Eat Stay Love SnoCo blog and had a great studio visit with Wendy where she got to see the space mid-renovations — check it out here: Start the Presses!
